Trends in Terrorism in 2024
The international terrorist landscape is dramatically changing. It is more diverse and complex than it has ever been. The threats posed by foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) and transnational criminal groups have metastasized and grown more dire in many parts of the world. At the same time, the threat posed by violent extremists remains constant. Both homegrown violent extremists, espousing foreign jihadist ideology, and domestic violent extremists, espousing right and left wing ideologies, are every bit as concerning as the threat posed by FTOs. The threat in 2024 has become more fragmented than ever before. This session will break down the threat environment and focus on one commonality, the need for financing.
